No blood stains keep me smiling

Reusable sanitary pads are like usual pads and designed to serve as disposable pad. They are made from long lasting cotton material and are meant to be reused a a few times.

Anitha, Nasra, and Dionisia are among the 893 OVC who received reusable sanitary pads in the DREAMS program. Before receiving reusable sanitary pads, they had been using alternative ways during menstruation periods because they could not afford costs of buy disposable pads.  This alternative measures with pieces of cloths kept them always uncomfortable because of blood stains on their dresses leading to stigma and shame.

Menstrual hygiene is a vital need for OVC too and an important need for this age group and thus this was included as one of the services within the package.

These girls report happiness and loss of stigma and shame from the use of reusable pads.  The girls remark the following joy and benefits from the use of reusable pads: lack of stains even with heavy blood flow, little or no monthly costs, can be changed regularly to keep clean and no bad feelings during us

Anitha says ….”I am now happy during my periods as am assured my cloths will not be stained, I just wash them and prepare for the next month happily instead of wondering where to get money for disposable pads….

Also Nasra strongly stated….. “periods are something I used to hate and miserable when it is time now I only have to care about keeping clean and not problems with money”
